Brenda LaVern Carter 73 of Camby, Indiana passed away March 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 12, 1950, in Pine Knot, Kentucky to the late Leon and Reba Juanita (Freeman) Smith. Brenda was a Manager for Village Pantry for over 20 years. She was a member of the Bluff Baptist Church, a former member of the Red Hat Society, and enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling all over the country. Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Allen Wayne Carter, her children, Linda (Daniel) West, Venita Toms, Robert (Rosemary) Carter, Gary (Heather) Toms, April (Jeff) Stout, Allen W. Carter II, her 21 grandchildren, her 13 great grandchildren, her sister, Bernita Frazier, and her brothers, Escar Smith, and John Smith. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Phillip W. Toms, and 5 of her siblings. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024, 5:00-8:00pm and Tuesday, April 2, 2024, 12:00-2:30 at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with the funeral service there Tuesday at 2:30pm. She will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery. The family request memorial gifts may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
