Brenda Joyce "BJ" Davis, 79, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Carteret Health Care.
A memorial service to honor BJ’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Munden Funeral Home. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through her obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website.
BJ was born on August 30, 1946, in Canada, Kentucky, to the late Cecil and Gladys Chapman. She built a strong career as a steelworker in automobile manufacturing, demonstrating resilience, dedication, and pride in her work.
BJ was also deeply creative and artistically gifted. She was known for her beautiful paintings and her unique seashell lamps—thoughtfully crafted treasures she loved to give to family and friends. Her art reflected her warmth, imagination, and the joy she found in the world around her.
A woman of remarkable strength, BJ celebrated 18 years of sobriety. She was an active and devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where her commitment to the program and her willingness to support others made a lasting impact. BJ’s guidance and compassion saved countless lives.
Above all, BJ was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her heart, and her kindness, strength, and love will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 5 years, Filmore Davis; daughter, Cherryl Moore and husband Thomas of Reidsville, NC; brother, Chuck Chapman of Reidsville, NC; and several precious grandchildren; and great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, BJ was preceded in death by her sisters, Pricy and Janice.
