Brenda Kay Bowen Dover

Brenda Bowen Dover, 81, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025 at Carolina Care Health & Rehabilitation in Cherryville, NC. Born February 24, 1944 in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Fred Bowen and Verda Smart Bowen and also was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Jerry Ray Dover, siblings Betty Fite, George Bowen, and Winfred Bowen, and by her great-grandchild Payton Auton.

Brenda was a longtime member at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. Even into their later years, she and Jerry were always active people and could often be found camping, bowling, or taking beach trips with family and friends. Brenda was a skilled ceramicist and took great pleasure in sharing the hobby with her friends and family in the form of pottery gifts. She also enjoyed spending time at the Patrick Senior Center.

Brenda was a devoted wife, a loving mother and friend, and a doting grandmother. She dedicated herself to making other people happy, even in the midst of her last several years spent battling dementia. She truly made a positive impact at Carolina Care, where she was beloved by both the nursing staff and her fellow residents. Brenda's warmth, generosity, and kindness will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staffs at Carolina Care and Rehabilitation and Hospice of Cleveland County for the exceptional care and love shown to Brenda during her time in their care.

SURVIVORS: Daughters: Teresa Patterson (Tim), Pam Whittington (Frankie), and Leslie Martin (Conrad), all of Kings Mountain

Grandchildren: Katie Bryant (Josh), Janie Dowda, Tyler Whisnant, Chris Whisnant (Courtney), Lee Whittington (Tabatha), Brittney Auton (TJ), Amanda Whittington, Olivia Martin, and Katherine Martin

Great-grandchildren: Emersyn, Kylee, Rylee, Bryce, Brantley, Gracie, Piper, Brayden, Sofia, Chase, and Kendall

Brenda is also survived by her dear friend and roommate at Carolina Care, Ruth Randall.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Sunday, December 14, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Mountain Rest Cemetery with Pastor Greg Neely officiating

VISITATION: The family will speak with attendees in the cemetery immediately following the service.

INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina
