Garland Lender Rhyne
Garland Lender Rhyne, 94, of Gastonia, NC, passed away on November 21, 2025 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC. He was born January 23, 1931 in Gaston County, NC, son of the late Howard and Idela Froneberger Rhyne and was preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn Calhoun, Sara Rhyne, Lewis Rhyne, and Junior Rhyne and a stepdaughter, Diane Morrison. Garland served the country honorably in the US Army. He worked for nearly 50 years as a heavy equipment operator and eventually as a supervisor with John Jenkins Construction company in Gastonia. Garland was an aviation enthusiast having owned his own plane for some time and earning his pilot's license. Garland loved taking people flying and thrilling them with his midair maneuvers. He also loved trains and enjoyed riding old locomotives whenever he could. Garland was a classic movie buff and cherished spending time watching old westerns. He loved family vacations to the mountains and especially the beach. Garland loved life and cherished his family with all his heart. Spending time with those he loved always brought a smile to his face, no matter how bad he was feeling. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather to 3 generations of grandchildren. Garland's memory will be cherished for a lifetime by all those who knew and cared for him.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with Reverend Andy Broughton officiating
VISITATION: Saturday, Novemeber 29, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM prior to the service at Harris Funeral Home
