Robert (Bob) Paul Rhyne, 81, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024. To honor his memory, there will be two celebrations of life - one in Texas, and one in Minnesota. In Texas we will celebrate his life at 6pm on Friday, March 15th, at Frisco Lakes Main Village Center. There will be additional details regarding a later gathering in Minnesota this coming June.
Bob was born in Wheaton, Minnesota on April 21, 1942, to Jane (Rosdahl) and Rudy Rhyne, and he enjoyed the life of a farming community with womb to tomb buddies Mike Schmidt, Dean Osterman, Dick Thompson, and Joe Spafford. Bob went on to attend the University of Minnesota at Morris, where he forged life-long friendships with David Kurad, Gary Sethney, Gary Spaulding and Hoke Hokanson.
Always seeking new adventures, Bob moved to Camarillo, Great Falls, and then on to Minneapolis and St. Cloud, where he graduated with a business degree. While in St. Cloud, he met the love of his life, Donna, and they married in 1966. The couple began their married life in Minneapolis, where Bob began his career in insurance. It was the perfect industry for a man who loved people and small towns.
In February of 1967 and April of 1972, Bob and Donna welcomed their daughters Byrd (Rhyne-Fisher) and Katy (Garner) into their family. Bob was the best dad. He was a patient driving instructor, always up for a shopping trip and well acquainted with school officials. We think he just wanted to hear about his well behaved daughters.
Bob was thrilled to bring two son-in-laws into the family - Ian Fisher and Robert Garner. He was a loving grandpa for Benjamin and Janey Matejka, Morgan and Madison Fisher, and Sibley and Cecilia Garner. He loved spending time with his grandkids in Minnesota - boating, swimming and lots of visits to Dairy Queen.
All people have passions - Bobs passion was people. He was the coordinator of family gatherings, attended every school reunion, the spontaneous phone or house call instigator. A cheerleader to all, he was always one to say I love you, Im proud of you, and to give cash (or cookies) to those who needed it most. He was active and well-known within his Frisco Lakes community. All who knew him, loved him. He played a myriad of card games, dominoes and he loved a good breakfast out with his ROMEO group - Retired Old Men Eating Out. The impact he had on people, the love he shared, the laughs he gave are his legacy.
In lieu of flowers, we would like donations to be made to the
American Cancer Society or the North Texas Food Bank in Bob's name.
We invite those who knew Robert to share their stories, memories, and photographs on his memorial page. Every contribution will help paint a more complete picture of Robert's life and further immortalize his memory. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Robert, please visit our Tree Store.
