Brenda Flanagan Obituary

Our sweet Brenda returned home to the Lord on Sunday, August 7th. She died peacefully surrounded by her family's presence and love. The daughter of Ralph Francis and Catherine (Flynn) Connor, both who have preceded her in Heaven, Brenda grew up in Hartford on Park Street. She was a kind girl with a love for her cousins and family. She attended South Catholic High School and went on to move to Rocky Hill where she spent most of her life. The bright spots in Brenda's life were her strong faith in God and her family and friends. With her soulmate, Craig Flanagan, she raised two daughters, Kathleen (Fiel) Verissimo and Alison (Fiel) Norton. Brenda could always be found with a crochet hook, yarn, and a smile. She tirelessly gave to others, left people better than she found them and always had a pearl of wisdom for anyone she encountered. Brenda's true moments to shine were when she was just being "Buddah" to her three precious loves, her grandchildren, Lidia Kate and Natalie Brynn Norton along with Miles Christopher Verissimo. She will be missed by many, but especially by her husband and daughters, along with her sons in law, Lon Norton and Jason Verissimo. Brenda leaves behind more friends than one can imagine, and for that her family is forever grateful. They also wish to thank her incredible team of doctors and nurses at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for their loving care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 280 Brook St., Rocky Hill. Friends may call on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Donations may be made in her name to the NUT Carcinoma Research Foundation lead by Dr. Christopher French and Dr. Geoffrey Shapiro here https://danafarber.jimmyfund.org/site/TR;jsessionid=00000000.app216a?fr_id=1200&pg=team&team_id=5310&NONCE_TOKEN=FD4DBA0753E94209175D14F4EDB15FAA. I am heartbroken to hear of Mrs. Flanagan's passing. She was always a welcoming fixture on Silo Dr. when visiting the Francis' as kids. Whether it was providing us with snacks or keeping an open offer to use the Fanagan pool, she always made my brother and I feel like part of the neighborhood. It takes a person with an open heart to allow 150 kids to her house for our Senior Prom toast. Her picture is exactly how I remember her - always smiling with a funny, sarcastic joke to make us laugh. Sending her family and friends hope for healing and peace at this tumultuous time.
