Brenda June Hodgkins, 55, of South Portland, passed away peacefully at Maine Medical Center, Portland surrounded by family members. She was born on 12 May 1970 at Fort Dix, New Jersey to Meredith (Danforth) and Robert Hodgkins.

Being in a military family, she moved frequently. She lived in New Jersey, New Hampshire, Montana, and Massachusetts before settling at the family home in Greene, ME. She attended local schools, attending Leavitt Area High School and received her GED from the MSAD #52 adult education program. She continued her education, graduating from the University of Maine at Augusta, with a degree in Business Management.

She served in the Maine Army National Guard at South Portland as a Single Channel Radio Operator. She became a devoted mother in February 1993 when her son Peter was born prematurely. She was by his side continuously during the many months he spent at Maine Medical Center.

She started her career with the United States Postal Service in 1998. She retired with a disability from the USPS in 2018. After her retirement, she could usually be found with a cup of coffee sitting in front of her computer on social media.

Brenda liked to travel, both internationally and around the United States. She was an avid fan of New England Sports Teams, especially the Red Sox and New England Patriots.
She was predeceased by her mother, Meredith. She is survived by her son Peter Hafford of South Portland, sisters Gail Hodgkins of Gorham, Cheryl Goding and family of Auburn, half siblings Cynthia Jones and family of Cedar Park, TX, Brian Hodgkins and family of Georgetown, TX, and her father Robert Hodgkins of Greene. Graveside services will be held at the Valley Cemetery, Rt 202 Greene, on Saturday 25 October at 11:00 AM.
