Robert E. Hodgkins Jr

HARTLAND-Robert E. Hodgkins Jr, 84, died peacefully on October 8, 2025, in Waterville, Maine.
Bob was born on February 14, 1941, in Millinocket, Maine, grew up in Hartland, and proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He held two associates degrees, one was in Fire Science and also received bacheldor's degree in business from Husson College in Bangor. He worked as a Somerset County Sheriff Deputy, owned his own Tax Service, and worked as an insurance inspector for many years. He retired from the Bangor Fire Department as well as from the Air National Guard.
Many knew Bob as an active member of his community. He belonged to the Masons, the Shriners, the American Legion, the Kiwanis, and the Key Club of Bangor. He was also a member of the Hartland Historical Society.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman, teaching his grandkids how to hunt and fish. He loved being by the water and the yearly family camp time in July was something he always looked forward to. He played a good game of cribbage and always treated his friends like family.
He is survived by his daughter, Roberta Hodgkins; son, Alan Hodgkins and wife Roxanne; grandchildren: Derrick Charette, Davis Charette and wife Julie, Kyle Hodgkins, and Chase Hodgkins; siblings: Betty Lane, Alice Vanadestine and husband Leroy, Darlene Charrier and husband Wayne, Rochelle Oelrich and husband Jay, Harvey Hodgkins, and Phillip Ham; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arline and Wesley Ham; infant daughter, Deborah; brother, Delmas Hodgkins; grandson, Michael Hodgkins; and niece, Dawn Davis.

A time of visiting will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A memorial service will be held at noon, Monday, October 27, 2025, in the chapel of the Maine Veterans Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, with military honors being presented for his service to our country.
