Donald Michael Hodgkins, 67, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025.
Affectionately known as Don or “Big Don”. Born in Wellsville, NY, Don was the cherished only child of Donald Victor and Crystle Reinard Hodgkins. A hardworking man, he spent more than 20 years proudly owning and operating his trucking company before retiring after 15 years of dedicated service as Facilities Director at St. Mary Catholic Church. Don approached life much like he approached a cold morning in the deer stand—patient, prepared, and always ready with a story about “the big one that got away.”
Don loved his family fiercely and had a gift for making every holiday feel special. Whether it was Christmas morning, a Thanksgiving table full of laughter, or a simple birthday gathering, he went out of his way to make each person feel seen, loved, and celebrated. His family will forever cherish the traditions he created.
He is survived by his daughters, Amber (Andy) Fogle of Orangeburg, and Asya (John Lewis) Floyd of Bluffton, SC; his sons, Jonah (Allison) Hodgkins of North Augusta, SC, and Aaron (Gloria) Hodgkins of Columbia, SC; seven grandchildren, Payton (Jarrett) Harris, Anderson Fogle, Harrison Fogle, Dane Hodgkins, Ava Hodgkins, Calvin Floyd, and Sloane Floyd; and his step-sons, Derek (Sarah) Wilsey and Andrew (Kay) Wilsey. His family finds comfort in knowing he is now resting in a peace as quiet and calm as his favorite spot in the woods.
The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Don’s Life on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Don’s residence.
