George William Castles, 88, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025.
George was born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Henry and Lillian Weed Castles. He graduated from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. He retired in 1997 as Assistant Financial Director for the New York Health and Hospital Corporation. After retiring, George and Ginny moved to the Woodside Plantation in Aiken, SC. In retirement he enjoyed playing golf several times a week. One year he even shot a hole-in-one. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Cole Castles; daughter, Martha (David) Ryan, Waukesha, WI; son, Eric Castles, Huntington Station, Long Island, NY.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Castles.
The Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 5, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jeff Erbskorn officiating. Inurnment will take place in the church columbarium, followed by a brief visitation.
