AIKEN, SC - Richard Albert Mueller, 88, beloved husband of Mary Catherine Mueller, left this world peacefully on November 18, 2025.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on October 16, 1937, Richard's life was characterized by service, love, and a deep commitment to his family and community.
A proud veteran, Richard served honorably in the Air Force, dedicating eight years to active duty and an additional three years in reserve. His sense of duty did not wane after his military service; he went on to have a fulfilling career as an IT Engineer at SRS, where he retired after many years of dedicated work.
Richard's heart was always open to everyone he encountered, but it was with his beloved wife, Mary, that he found his greatest companionship. They met at the Savannah River Plant and two years later, they married on December 20, 1969.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his two stepsons, Jeffery (Janet) Arnold of North Augusta, SC, and Neil (Michelle) Arnold of East Thetford, Vermont. Other survivors include his brothers, Joe (Gina) Tyson and Patrick Tyson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph Gustov Mueller and Bertha Dorn Mueller Tyson.
Active within his church community, Richard enjoyed singing in the choir and serving as a deacon at Memorial Baptist Church. One of Richard's proudest accomplishments was starting a computer class for the elderly at Memorial Baptist, showcasing his dedication to empowering others and fostering learning at any age. He also served on the board of directors for Kalmia Landing.
A graveside service will be held in Southlawn Cemetery with a time and date to be announced.
