Brenda Gail Longfellow, 62, of Gandeeville, West Virginia, passed away on November 13, 2025, at WVU Medical Center in Morgantown, WV.
She was born on June 22, 1963, in Spencer, WV, the daughter of the late James O. Burgess Sr. and Betty Lou McNeely Burgess. Brenda grew up in Roane County and was a 1981 graduate of Walton High School. She dedicated her career to caring for others as a respiratory therapist assistant. Brenda was a Christian by faith and enjoyed making candy, scrapbooking, canning, completing puzzles and going to the beach.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by the love of her life, Ronald Scott; her beloved grandparents, James O. and Sadie Burgess, and Ernest D. and Geneva McNeely; her daughter, LaDauna Johnson; sister Doris Taylor; brothers James "Buddy" Burgess and Timothy Wayne Burgess.

She is survived by her son, Josh Johnson, and his fiancée Brandi L. O'Dell of Caldwell, Ohio; and her cherished grandchildren Conner Smith of St. Clairsville, OH and Hadleigh Shafer of Clendenin, WV. Brenda is also survived by her sisters Linda (Gary) Given of Amma, WV; Alma (Joe) Bellamy of Kingsport, TN; and Cheryl Burgess of Walton, WV; and her brothers Eddie (Sandy) Burgess of Walton, WV; Randy (Tammy) Burgess of Walton, WV; and Mike (Chrystie) Burgess of Spencer, WV.

Also surviving are sisters-in-law Kathy Feder, Mary Hendershot, and Paula Burgess; several nieces and nephews; her dear friend and physician Dr. Carroll Christensen; and her best friends Mary Whitt of Walton, WV, and Jerry Harper of Charleston, WV.

Brenda will be remembered for her warm heart, her deep love for her family, and her unwavering strength throughout life's challenges. She touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and kindness.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Taylor Vandale Funeral Home with the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Tim Ashley. Burial will follow at the Burgess Family Cemetery.
