Brenda Ashcraft Mixon, age 79, of Slidell, Louisiana passed away peacefully on June 14, 2024. Born on May 3, 1945, in Leake County, Mississippi. Brenda was the daughter of the late Nell Blocker Evans and Kennis Kemp Ashcraft. Throughout her life, Brenda displayed remarkable strength and resilience, working as a welder for General Motors in Van Nuys, California and later dedicating many years to Walmart, where she was known for her hard work and friendly nature.
Brenda's heart was always open to those she loved, and she will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to family and friends, her fierce independence, and her deep affection for animals. Having lived in New Orleans for many years, she had a deep love for the city and was a dedicated Saints fan.
Brenda was a wonderful stepmother and was loved dearly by her stepchildren, Michael Barattini, Jack Mixon and niece Cheryl Battles (Les), three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ivo Mixon, her beloved parents, Nell Blocker Evans and Kennis Kemp Ashcraft, and her brothers Kennis Eugene Ashcraft, Tommy Larry Ashcraft and Bobby Joe Ashcraft.
A celebration of life will be held on July 6th at 11 AM at Renfroe Memorial Garden, Renfroe, Mississippi. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to Webster Animal Shelter, 525 Post Oak Road, Madison, Mississippi, 39110 in Brenda Mixon's name, reflecting her passion for animal welfare.
Brenda's kindness, warmth, and generosity touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her spirit will live on in the memories of her loved ones, and she will be deeply missed.
