Brenda was born on September 25, 1950, to Othel and Rebecca Rhymes in Shreveport, Louisiana and entered into rest on Friday, December 22, 2023.

Brenda enjoyed being a housewife to her husband Doyle W. Smith, Sr. for 52 years. The things that made her the happiest were her husband, her kids and her grandkids. “They are my LIFE”! If they were happy and safe, then she was happy. Brenda was the most selfless person, always putting herself last and everyone else first; no matter what the cost. Brenda loved spending time and visiting with all of her family members and playing with all her grandbabies. She loved bird watching and would sit in her recliner for countless hours watching all the birds eat out of the feeders. Brenda also loved flowers, especially the rose garden her husband made for her. She also enjoyed playing cards with her family members.

Preceding her in death were her father and mother, Othel and Rebecca Rhymes; infant son; infant twins, Betty and Eddy Smith; sisters, Opal Bacon and Betty Moore; and brother, Ray Rhymes.

She is survived by her husband, Doyle W. Smith, Sr. of Campti, LA; daughters, Yvonne Desadier of Campti, LA, and Tawnya Smith-Thomas and Coy Patrick Thomas of Natchitoches, LA; sister, Wilma Smith of Campti, LA; grandchildren, Alisha, T.J., Nicklas, Joey, Mykenzie, Dylan, Baylee, and Connor; six great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; cousins and double first cousins that were all very dear to her.

Honoring Brenda as pallbearers will be Jamie Smith, Jamie Rhymes, Eddie Gallaspy, Tommy Blake, John Smith, and Charlie Hudson. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Ray Smith, and Walter Monroe.
