SMITH

Brenda Jean (Snyder) Smith, a beloved woman of deep compassion, creativity, and quiet strength, passed away at home on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the age of 78.

Born May 31, 1947, in London, Ohio, Brenda was a daughter of Maxwell Snyder and Edythe (Knedler) Snyder. A gifted artist and the founder of the former Toll House Ceramics, she brought beauty into the world not only through her hands, but through the way she lived-thoughtfully, generously, and with purpose. Her love of the arts was more than a profession; it was a lifelong passion that touched many in her community.

She served for years as the dedicated secretary for the former London Chamber of Commerce, where her reliability and warmth made her an invaluable part of the team. Later in life, she gave even more of herself as a devoted caregiver, offering comfort and support to those in need.

Faith was a guiding force throughout her life. A longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, she sang joyfully in the church choir and led the Luther League alongside her sister, helping guide the next generation with wisdom and grace.

Whether she was walking in the woods, caring for animals, or simply sitting outside with a warm drink in hand, she found peace and joy in the natural world. Her love for all creatures and the outdoors was matched only by the love she showed to family, friends, and community.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the art she created, the lives she touched, and the love she freely gave.

Left to continue her legacy include her sons: Eric Smith, Adam (Jennifer) Smith, and Ryan (Sandy) Smith, as well as nephews Matt and Mark Baum whom she raised as her own sons; grandchildren Hayden, Dylan, Nolan, Landon, Lily, Kyra, Keller, Quinn, and Adria; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large host of very dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her brother Leroy Snyder, and sisters Edna Mae Snyder-Baum and Joyce (Charles "Bud") Roby.

Private interment in Kirkwood Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service to celebrate and honor her life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM in St. John's Lutheran Church, 380 Keny Blvd, London, Ohio 43140 with Pastor Josh Stibb officiating. The Smith family will receive friends for visitation at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of services.
