Brenda Jean Thomas, passed away on January 21, 2026, in Greeneville, Ohio. Born on September 16, 1958, in Dayton, Ohio, Brenda lived a life filled with purpose and love.
Brenda dedicated many years to her career as Chief Deputy Dog Warden for Montgomery County, where her commitment to animal welfare shone brightly. Working many jobs throughout her life, her career path included a lot of her hobbies. Her educational journey included attending Miamisburg High School, where she likely developed the values of diligence and compassion that she carried throughout her life.
Known for her nurturing personality, Brenda spent significant time with her mother-in-law, forging a bond that showcased her loving nature. She had a profound love for her family, which was evident in her many hobbies and interests. Brenda had a passion for gardening, instilling beauty in her surroundings. She was also an avid horse enthusiast, tending to and showing horses with great care and dedication. Most notably, her affection for her family—including her beloved dogs, particularly the Coton de Tulear breed—was a testament to her warm-hearted spirit.
Brenda leaves behind a loving family, including her mother, Emma Jean (Abner) Brown; her beloved husband of 47 years, Michael Thomas; her daughter, Tosha (Justin) Jordan; and her grandchildren, Jonathan (Mollee) Brown, Faith (John) Pierce, Hope (Jacob) Jordan, Grace Brown, and Cori Chasteen. In addition, she was a proud great-grandmother to Kyllen, Gabriella, and Elloise. Brenda is also survived by her siblings, Charlie Brown and Tonya Stephenson, along with numerous extended family members and friends who will continue to cherish her memory.
Brenda is preceded in death by her father, Charles E. Brown; mother-in-law, Mary Irene (Hunnel) Thomas; and father-in-law, Tom J. Thomas.
Brenda Jean Thomas will be remembered not only for her contributions to her community but also for the immense love she shared with those around her. Her legacy will live on through her family and the countless lives she touched during her time on this earth.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:30PM on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel. Family and friends may visit from 11:30AM until the time of service. Brenda will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery.
