Brenda Cannon White

Brenda Cannon White, 81, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 4PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 to 4 PM at the funeral home.
Brenda lived most of her life in the Newport area and was a graduate of Swansboro High School. She owned and operated the Broad Creek Restaurant and Pub for a number of years. She was also a member of White Oak Church, where she enjoyed participating in the Ladies' Auxiliary. Brenda also volunteered as a Guardian ad Litem, where she helped many children over the years to find safe environments. In her retirement, she, along with her late husband, Jim, loved to travel. They would spend months on the road in their RV and they served as Regional Presidents for SMART RVing. She moved to the Greenville area around 2011 in order to be closer to family.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, James H. White; and parents, Charlie and Pearlie Cannon.
She is survived by her sons, Kenny Fisher and wife, Michele, of Greenville, and Dwayne D. Fisher of Newport; grandchildren, Brendan and Keagan Fisher; step-daughters, Kathi White Tortorice of Orlando, FL, and Deborah Kay White of Virginia Beach, VA; step-grandchildren, Christina Young and Zachary White; and a large extended family.
