New Iberia, Louisiana - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Brenda Joyce Willis at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Saint Edward Roman Catholic Church (175 Ambassador W. Lemelle Drive) with Fr. Donald Bernard, SVD, Celebrant officiating.

Entombment will be held in the Mausoleum of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church Cemetery (130 Richelieu Circle) in New Iberia, LA following the Mass.

The visitation will be held at Fletcher Funeral Home on Saturday, January 10, 2026, beginning at 10:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. A rosary will be recited at 11:30 A.M. followed by a moment for the obituary reading and tributes.

Brenda Joyce Willis, age 71, entered eternal rest on December 31, 2025, in Lafayette, Louisiana, following a brief illness. She was born on December 18, 1954, in Lafayette, Louisiana, and was a lifelong resident deeply rooted in her faith, family, and community.

Brenda was the beloved wife of Pius Charles Willis Sr. and a devoted mother to Jennifer Archelle (Jamie Archelle Sr.), Devon Willis-Jones (Larry Jones Jr.), and Pius Willis Jr. (Kendra Willis). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Jamie Archelle Jr., Julia Archelle, Hannah Jones, Erin Willis, Christian Jones, Christopher Jones, Pius Willis III, Paris Willis, Kobi Willis, and Kenzlei Willis, step-grandmother to Javia Archelle, Justice Archelle, and Markham Guidry-Jones, and step great-grandmother to Juliana Douglas and Messiah Guidry-Jones. Brenda also shared a special bond with her godchildren, Kimberly Clay, John Victor Jr., and Dakala Clark.

She is survived by her siblings: Edward Jones Jr. (Pauletta Jones) of Dallas, Texas; Jacklene Jones of New Iberia, Louisiana; Katherine Jones of Plano, Texas; Linda Peters (Kalipe Peters) of Youngsville, Louisiana; Christopher Jones (Mona Jones) of New Iberia, Louisiana; and Gwendolyn Scott of California.

Brenda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rev. Harrison McKinley Jones and Julia L. Jones; her parents, Edward and Julia Jones; her sister, Madeline Jones Bibbs; and her nephew, Edward Carlton Jones III.

Brenda was a proud graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Education. She dedicated more than 33 years of faithful service to the Iberia Parish School Board, impacting countless lives as an educator. She taught at Delcambre High School, served as a fourth-grade teacher and reading coach at Pesson Addition Elementary School, and was widely respected for her commitment to student growth, literacy, and excellence in education.

A woman of deep faith, Brenda was a lifelong member of St. Edward Catholic Church, where her service was both extensive and heartfelt. She served as Chairperson of the Parish Lectors, Secretary of the St. Edward Parish Council for several years and was an active member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, Our Lady of Victory Court #63, and St. Catherine of Sienna Chapter No.16, 4th Degree Ladies of Grace. She was also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, embodying its principles of sisterhood, service, and scholarship.

Beyond her professional and spiritual life, Brenda embraced joy and fellowship through her passion for riding as a member of the Legends Biker Club, where she was affectionately known by her biker name, "Cotton Candy." Her vibrant spirit, warm smile, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.

Brenda Joyce Willis will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, faithful servant, dedicated educator, and cherished friend. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with wisdom, compassion, and unwavering love.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Derrick Jones, Payton Knatt, Edward Jones Jr., Christopher Jones, Jamie Archelle Jr., Christopher Jones, Christian Jones, Pius Willis III, and Warren (Boo) Etienne Sr.
