Brent L. McNany, 57, of Chicora, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes in the emergency department at Butler Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024.
Brent was born in Clarion on Sept. 11, 1966. He was the son of Cynthia Griebel and her husband, Harold, of Shippenville and the late Joseph Best.
He was a 1985 graduate of Clarion High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Persian Gulf War and attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Brent had been employed at Calumet Penreco in Karns City.
In his early years, Brent enjoyed coaching his son's sports teams and always looked forward to attending his grandson Grady's football games. He enjoyed trips to the beach, attending Pirate games, and working outside.
He had been a longtime member of the Chicora Moose Lodge and enjoyed the company of his many friends there. He also was a member of United Steel Workers Local 889.
He is survived by his wife, Linda S. Bowser McNany, whom he married in Knox on May 24, 1986. Also surviving are two sons, Jacob R. McNany and Caleb J. McNany of Chicora. He was affectionately "PaPa" to his grandchildren, Grady Clair and Johnnie Grace. Also surviving is an aunt, Patricia Hale of Shippenville, his father-in-law, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and friends.
In addition to his father, Brent was preceded in death by a sister, Stacy Best, his maternal grandparents and an aunt.
MCNANY - Friends of Brent L. McNany, who died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at HILE FUNERAL HOME of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.
Military honors will be accorded by members of the Chicora and Brady's Bend American Legion posts at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Members of the Chicora Moose Lodge will conduct a memorial service for their departed brother at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
