Brent John Rice, age 61, of Milan, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on December 5, 2023.
Brent was born on April 26, 1962 to parents, James and Marcia Rice, in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He graduated from Milan high school in 1980 and continued his education taking trade classes through the University of Michigan. Brent was a highly skilled painter, contributing his talent to the U of M Construction Services. As part of the Skilled Trades Union, he served as a Union Steward and a member of the Apprenticeship Committee. Brent took pride in his career; he excelled in any type of work he did and completed each task to the best of his abilities.
Brent met his soulmate Lynda Davenport in 1983 and took her hand in marriage on June 25, 1989 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Together they raised their children, Alex and Madison. Brent was so proud to continue his family legacy with his children by enjoying and teaching them so many valuable principles of life. He found joy in sharing his knowledge of hunting pheasants, with the help of their beloved dog Diesel and hunting deer. Bass fishing at a friend's pond was a highlight for Brent and his family. He also enjoyed anything that had a motor on it, he could fix it all. Friends and family often asked for his help, he was the "go-to" guy. These skills often kept him busy and he was willing to help when a need arose. He enjoyed the open road of motorcycle riding and shared that passion with his wife and children.
Most importantly, Brent had the most kind and welcoming personality, enjoying time with not only his family, but also his many friends. His grandchildren meant the world to him and never said no when his granddaughter asked for his famous biscuits and gravy. He enjoyed making people laugh and never took life too seriously. Brent faced all challenges with resilience and grace, surely leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynda; dear children, Alex (Casey) Rice and Madison (Sean) Fitzpatrick; adored grandchildren, Leah and Crew; parents, James and Marcia; siblings, Debbie Peters (Jim Kooi), Scott Rice, and Robin (David) Heath; sister in laws, Debbie (Jim) Dove, Pam Davenport (Corey Houseworth), Barb (Roy) Terwilliger; and many nieces and nephews, who warmly referred to Brent as "the fun uncle."
Visitation will take place on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Calvary Bible Church - 8318 Carpenter Rd., Ypsilanti. A funeral service will begin at 12:00pm with Pastor Brian Jones officiating.

Linda and Tim Southward

December 16, 2023

Brent was a great neighbor and friend. He was always there to help and he could fix anything. He knew when Tim would ride over on his lawn mower that we needed his help with something. He took care of all of our neighbors, he would be out plowing snow before the trucks would get to us or mowing lawns for neighbors who weren´t able. He was always in a good mood, we will miss his laugh and sense of humor. Our hearts are broken for all of you, Lynda, Alex, and Maddie. Our love, Tim and Linda
