Obituary published on Legacy.com by White Funeral Home - Farmington on Aug. 27, 2024.
Brent Gordon Tullar passed away peacefully Friday evening, August 23, 2024 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis at the age of 78. Brent was born on October 19, 1945 in Olean, NY to Lynn and Pearl Tullar. He grew up in Olean, leaving to enlist in the United States Navy where he served from 1963 to 1966 as an aircraft electrician. Fun fact, Brent got seasick on boats and spent his Navy career in the airl After the Navy, Brent attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and went on to a 35-year career in aviation as a Radio and Electronics Mechanic for Northwest Airlines.
Brent met his wife of 54 years on a blind date while visiting his sister in Florida and asked her to marry him after a whirlwind of dates in four days! Brent and Fay Barker married in Ocala, FL on June 7, 1970 and settled in Minnesota early on in their marriage for the remainder of his life. Brent is preceded in death by his parents and two older sisters. He is survived by his wife Fay, son Joseph (Susan) Tullar and daughter Teresa (Charles) Welch as well as his six grandchildren Peter, Allison, Norah, Ava, Aden and Matthew.
During his career in the airlines, Brent loved taking his family to visit relatives and explore destinations all over the country. He was in awe of the beauty of God's creation all around him and loved to hike, bike and camp. He thrived on a rich history of mechanical knowledge growing up from his inventor grandfather to his railroading father and was fascinated by all things planes, trains, ships and automobiles. Most recently his favorite destination was the Duluth Harbor where he could watch the massive cargo ships going through the canal.
Brent was "Papa" to six grandchildren and poured into their lives for the past 18 years, sharing his mechanical knowledge, love of play and giving them rides on everything from his back to riding lawn mowers to the old red truck. Most importantly, Brent had a lifelong devotion to his faith, serving in their church in many roles and passing down a legacy of faith with his wife to their children and grandchildren and countless others over the years. He was the first to admit his failures but knew his anchor of hope was in Christ and chose to surrender to Him each and every day. His family and friends will feel his physical absence in their days but rejoice that he is whole and at peace, reunited with loved ones and present with Christ!
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Bethel's Rock Church, 6300 212th St W, Farmington, MN 55024, with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM at church. Interment at Corinthian Cemetery, Farmington, MN.
