Brentwood Cifton Beard

Brentwood Clifton Beard, 77, of Clifton, NJ, passed away on October 27, 2023.
Funeral Services were held privately under the direction of Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, Roseland, NJ shookfarmer.com.
Born in Detroit, MI, he grew up in New York City. He married and moved to Paterson and settled in Clifton. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a cab driver and was a manager for Pathmark Supermarkets. His true passion was sports, playing basketball and baseball. Refereeing basketball, baseball, and soccer for CYO and high school. He served as a coach for baseball and basketball for CYO and was a positive light to guide kids through the world. He mentored many children throughout his coaching career. Turning neighborhoods into families.
My favorite memories are when he took me and my mom to a Michael Jackson concert, family trips to Comic Con in NYC, and attending the Earl Manny Goat Celebration in NYC for Father's Day. My father dancing at my wedding with my friend, still showing he still has it. All the time we played basketball together, he played all the way up to his 70s. He taught me all about life through the game of basketball. He was a good dad and an amazing father. I am me because of you and always remember, I am truly happy. Thank you, dad, you are my best friend. You will always be with me, and I will always remember you. You made this world better and I love you for that.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria Thomas; devoted sons, Kipp Beard, Hurron Beard and his wife Kathleen, Ganjhis Beard, and Lei Beard and his wife Kathy; cherished grandchildren, Callie, Gakiel, Devyn, Celestine, Kieran, and Ariyah.
