Bret D. Maher, 34, of Port Monmouth, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Bret was born November 30, 1990 in Long Branch, New Jersey. He grew up in Middletown where he attended Middletown High School South and was on the football team. Bret was a four year starter and a key member of the championship football team. His passion for powerlifting was evident in his high school bench press record and his ability to inspire and mentor others in the gym. After high school he attended Kean University where he continued his football career while earning his accounting degree. After college, Bret began his career as an accountant, where he made significant strides through his hard work and commitment. Bret enjoyed bowling, gaming and attending concerts with his friends. Bret's passion for music and tattoos was a defining part of his identity, showcasing his love for self-expression and the unique connections he formed with those around him. Bret also cherished relaxing while watching movies with his pets: Ivy, Newton, and Kodiak.
Most of all, Bret was a devoted son, brother, nephew and cousin. He will be deeply missed, forever loved and never forgotten. Bret has given us many reasons to be proud: his strength, his courage, and his kindness. His memory will continue to inspire us as we celebrate the joy he brought into our lives and honor the legacy he leaves behind. In one final act of generosity, Bret chose to be an organ donor, allowing him to give the gift of life and hope to others in need.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mary (Bolton) Maher, his paternal grandparents, Robert and Dolores (Landino) Maher, his maternal grandparents Richard and Margaret (Breslin) Bolton, his uncles, Stephen Bolton, Richard Bolton, and Keith Maher, and his cousin Stephen Bolton (Little Stevie).
