Bret A. Masters, age 61, a resident of Portland, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Bret was born on October 31, 1963, in Michigan, the son of Richard and Mildred “Millie” (Leffingwell) Masters. He graduated from Jay County High School in 1982 and worked for many years at Red Gold in Geneva, FCC in Berne, W&M Manufacturing in Portland and Joyce Dayton in Portland. He married Shirley Middaugh on November 19, 2005.

Kristy Twibell (husband Lynn) – Montpelier, Indiana
Nyoka Bowling (husband Greg) – Bargersville, Indiana
Monica Manley (husband Marvin) – Bluffton, Indiana
Brother: Mark Masters – Bryant, Indiana
Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Brett Michelle Eicks and Megan Masters-Grayson.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-7 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Charles Myers will officiate and burial will follow at Limberlost Cemetery, east of Bryant.
Memorials may be directed towards Jay County Humane Society.
