Janet Seals, age 76, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at IU Health Ball Hospital in Muncie.
Janet was born March 13, 1949, in Grayson, Kentucky, the daughter of Everett and Edith (Mabry) Gilbert. She worked as a cook at Meinderings in Fort Recovery and worked at Jay Garment in Portland. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Ft. Recovery and the Portland Moose Lodge.
Survivors include:
Her son: Jason Seals – Portland, Indiana
Her siblings: Paul Gilbert (wife Jackie) – Avondale, Arizona
Erma Emery – Florida
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Edith Gilbert and her siblings, David Gilbert, Carl Gilbert, Billy Gilbert, James Gilbert, Lillian Gilbert, Everett Gilbert, Jr., and Susan Callahan.
No services will be scheduled. Arrangements entrusted to Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.
