Herta E. Johnson, age 94, a resident of Redkey, Indiana, passed away on January 13, 2026.
Herta was born July 1, 1931, in Germany the daughter of Robert and Paula Hofstetter. Herta was known for her kindness, strength, generosity and loyalty. She devoted her life to her family and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and knitting.
She is survived by her daughter Diana Bolz, her brother, Dieter (Barbel) Hofstetter; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, including Susan (Ronald) Stevens; Ashley (Nick), Melody, and Marcus Mladenoff; Kylee Landry; Megan (Brian) Capilli and their son, Odin; Michael (Kathy) Cart and their children, Layla and Parker; Carl Ballard; Bethany (Mike), Johnathan, Sarah, and Alana Aldrich; Sheena Johnson; Melissa (Patrick) Wells and their children, Braden and Michaela; and David, Laney and Sadie Stith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Damon Johnson; her son, Dieter Johnson; grandson, Jared Johnson; great-granddaughter Catherine Welch; granddaughter Christina Cook and her husband, Bob; and grandson Douglas Miller. Her daughter Linda Miller passed away on March 11, 2026.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, when Herta and Damon will be laid to rest together at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
