Brett Crandall Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Duyck & VanDeHey Funeral Home - Tanasbourne on Dec. 15, 2025.
Brett Michael Crandall, 41, a resident of the Hillsboro community, passed away on December 12, 2025, at his home.

Brett was born on September 7, 1984 in Tri-Cities, Washington. He was the younger of two children adopted by Michael W. and Cheryl A. (Meeuwsen) Crandall. His family lived in Hillsboro. Brett attended W.L. Henry Grade School, Poynter Jr High School, and Hillsboro High School. Brett would have graduated with the Class of 2003.

While in school Brett enjoyed sports, participating in Baseball (JV and Summer) and Basketball. As a teenager he was into playing video games, hanging out with his friends, skateboarding, and rollerblading. In his earlier years, he worked at Unger Farms and his last employment was at Safeway in Hillsboro. His easygoing personality always shined through, he never complained and was always very thankful. Brett never knew a stranger.

In 2002 Brett was a passenger in a car accident that left him with a traumatic brain injury. After months in the hospital and a short time in a nursing home, he has been living with his parents who have been his caregivers throughout the years. Although tragic, his life has been full of love, lasting friendships, and peace.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, an aunt, and an uncle.

He is survived by his parents, Michael and Cheryl, a sister, Jaime Cosci and her partner, Jim Kiser, Eugene, two nieces, Lily and Stella, three aunts and their spouses, an uncle and his spouse, and many cousins.
