Eleaner Mary Lazuck Kaufmann

Eleanor Mary Lazuck Kaufmann, 92, passed away peacefully, at her home of more than 70 years, on October 9, 2025, in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Eleanor was born at home, on the family farm in Hillsboro, on May 17, 1933. She was one of 9 children born to Dorofey and Klementyna Lazuck. She was raised on the family farm and attended Hillsboro schools graduating in 1951.

Eleanor met her husband, Robert William Kaufmann, while she was working at the local feed store. They were married on June 27, 1953, at St Matthew Catholic Church in Hillsboro, Oregon. They made their home on Robert's family farm in Hillsboro, Oregon, where they raised their three children. The farm has been a gathering place for their children, spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all the friends and families who come with those relationships and who loved to visit and spend time at the farm.

Eleanor, a quiet and private woman, loved her home and the opportunities it gave her to be outside, enjoy nature, garden, watch her beloved birds, help farm and to pass her knowledge and ingenuity onto her children, their spouses and their families. She was artistic and saw color and depth in her surroundings. She loved to read, learn about herbs, spices and holistic natural remedies. In her younger years she looked forward to hunting, fishing and foraging with her siblings and family. These outings were all family adventures. As she aged, she enjoyed hearing about her family's adventures and the stories they told of their journeys and escapades.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Kaufmann, who passed away on March 16, 2015

Eleanor is survived by her sister Helen Scholz, son John Kaufmann (Mollie), son Mike Kaufmann (Nina) and daughter Diane Van Dyke (Mike), grandchildren Mike Kaufmann (Jessica), Scott Kaufmann (Becky), Kristyn Kaufmann (Tom Martens), Emily Kaufmann, Audrey Craft (Will), Craig Van Dyke (Joy) and Kurt Van Dyke (Kelsey). Eleanor is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and her beloved dog Tucker.

Her sweet smile, rosy, red cheeks and quiet laugh will be greatly missed.
