Brett Perry Hamilton

Brett P. Hamiton passed away in his boyhood home on 13 November 2023 in Scripps Ranch, San Diego, California.
He was born on 20 November 1967 to Laurie J. Hamilton and James R Hamilton at the dawn of the hippie era. They made their first home in Pacific Beach, California, and because his parents were struggling college students who didn't have two nickels to rub together, his first bed was the bottom drawer of a hand-me-down bureau. And apparently thereafter he never had any trouble sleeping anywhere at any time.
Brett was blessed to have two sets of beloved grandparents who lived around the corner from each other: Charles and Laura Levendosky (career US Army) and Joe and Joyce Hamilton (career US Navy). Childcare was never an issue.
He started school at the early age of 2 ½ at the San Diego State Campus Lab Nursery School. He excelled in finger painting and tricycle riding. His teacher said he was a funny little rascal. (His keen sense of humor served him well throughout his life.) He was graduated from Mira Mesa High School in June 1985 along with a close-knit group of friends who remained friends throughout his college career (City College, SDCCD and Coleman University) and his employment career (Bowser Cabinetry, Costco, Capital One, and Sempra Energy)-from woodworker to software engineer.
Brett and Catherine D'Agostino met while attending the same church and after a whirlwind courtship were married on 25 July 1992. They're responsible for contributing two extraordinary young women to the world: Sarah Michelle (now 30) and Jianna Elyse (25). Both of whom grew to appreciate their daddy's love for travel and adventure.
Brett played ice hockey throughout his middle school and high school years, but his passion in college and later on in life was for racquetball. He often played daily. And it was difficulty gripping the racquet that eventually led to a diagnosis of a cavernous malformation, a rare neurological disorder. Surgery and many months of physical rehabilitation were ultimately unsuccessful. To use Brett's own words, he "was trapped, not healing, and only getting worse." He will be remembered and missed.
