Brett Wand Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Care Cremation & Funeral Service - Eastland Drive on Oct. 1, 2025.
Brett Wand passed away August 26th, 2025, after complications from open heart surgery. Ultimately, his heart was too big for this life.
He was born June 25, 1961, in Lexington, Kentucky to Helen and Don Wand, where he also lived out most of his life. Brett attended Lexington Technical Institute where he studied radiological science. He went on to become a radiologic technologist at the University of Kentucky in 1986 where he worked until he retired as an Interventional Radiology Master Technologist in 2023.
Brett was an avid golfer and could be found most days of his retirement getting a round (or two) in at his favorite courses. He was a devoted Bengals fan, even when they weren't winning. He also spent many years working on the sidelines of his favorite UK football and basketball teams by providing x-ray services for the players, as an excuse to be there and cheer on his favorite collegiate sports. The rest of the time he could be found with a book or a mountain dew and bourbon, in hand, jamming out to one of his countless playlists.
He is preceded in death by his son, Seth Dorian Wand; his parents, Helen and Don Wand; and his sister, Lisa Wand Wilson; and nieces, Bryonny and Brownwyn Wilson.
Survived and beloved by his wife, Sherry; daughter, Medrena; his two siblings, Cheryl and Kevin, several cats and innumerable friends. Brett will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Friday, September 26th, at Spindletop Hall in Lexington, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation in Brett's name to your local humane society to honor his lifelong love of cats or First Tee, a non-profit youth development organization in Louisville that gets children into golf.
His interment will be announced at a later date.
Care Cremation and Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with final care.
