Brian Patrick Allard, USMC (Ret.) died on Christmas Eve 2025, after a long and courageous battle with liver disease contracted while serving his country in Okinawa in 1975. Brian enlisted in the United States Marine Corps when he was 17 years old, with his parent's permission, after promising them he would complete high school studies and secure his diploma. He honored that commitment, and also earned a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering from Monmouth College (now Monmouth University) in New Jersey.
Brian was born in
Yakima, Washington, on January 6, 1956, six minutes after his twin brother, Bernard Joseph. "Buckshot" and "BB" were inseparable, and had a sixth sense for what was going on in each other's life. Even as adults living on opposite coasts, they had a "feeling" about what was happening in each other's lives.
Brian was an early recipient of a liver transplant in 1986, and survived a remarkable 39 years following that transplant. The discipline that made him a great Marine also served him well as he worked through the trials and tribulations of surviving an organ transplant. As his liver recently started to fail, Bernie stepped up and volunteered part of his liver for Brian. As preparations were being made, Bernie unexpectedly died in June of 2025. Brian passed before another donor liver was available.
Brian is survived by his wife, Iris (née Shiu) Allard, and their daughters, Yvonne and Renee. He is also survived by three brothers Paul (Mary Jo), Mark (Chantal) and Philip (Jane), Bernard's wife, Ava, and one sister, Teresa Breitenfeldt, and multiple nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by his parents, Jean and Mary Allard, and his two brothers, John and Bernard.
