Obituary published on Legacy.com by Puerta Del Cielo Funeral Home on Jul. 7, 2023.
Brian Jay Arroyo was born April 1, 1983 to Eduardo Arroyo and the late Lorraine Reynolds at St. Luke's Hospital in New York City. Brian's journey began on the Upper West Side before moving to the Bronx and late settling down in Springfield MA, with his father after the passing of his mother. Brian graduated from Alfred E. Smith Career and Technical Education High School in New York, and later worked for the Springfield Public Schools System until recently before succumbing to his health issues.
As a young child, Brian had the intellect, insight, humor and cognitive abilities beyond his years, that delighted most people at first meeting him. Brian was witty and had a sharp sense of humor. He would often find comedy where you'd least expect it, and would use this gift to lift spirits, light up a room and make any occasion more special! He was loving and kindhearted and these traits extended to everyone he met. Brian was a gentle giant, yet was also fearless, dependable, and selfless – always putting others' needs before his own. He loved hard and was extremely caring and considerate – always reaching out check on you when least expected or stopping by to lift you up and make you laugh when you were feeling low, or just stepping in to help and show up when support was needed. No matter what he had, if you needed it, it was yours!
He spoke his mind, but never to the detriment of others. As a father, Brian took great joy in being a dad, and always wanted the best for his children. If love, loyalty, and light was a person, that person would be Brian!
Although he had many interests, his love of music was known by all! He was an active member of Springfield's local music scene where he and a group of artists performed in and around the local area performing. Brian's favorite genre was Rap music, but he also loved R&B, Reggaetón, Old School and Classic Soul. He had a great flow and was an above average lyricist. Brian also enjoyed watching sports, playing video games, and social outings, and dancing, and loved all New York sports teams, especially the Yankees and the Knicks and was often seen wearing a Yankees' fitted cap. Brian, also loved clothes and won best dressed awards each of his middle school years. He had an eye for fashion and was particular about how he looked before stepping out.
Brian leaves behind his Grandfather: Eduardo Sr.; Father: Eduardo Jr., Daughters: Brianna and Aniyah; Siblings: Harry, Nikki, Scott, Eduardo, Kathyria and Nani, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including: Sharonda Pinckney, the 730 family and The Four Horsemen. Brian was well loved and will be truly missed by us all!! Gone, but never forgotten!! May you Rest in Heaven!!
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, 730 State Street,
