Obituary published on Legacy.com by Saul Colonial Home on Feb. 16, 2025.
Brian Frank Bernert was born February 21, 1953, and was welcomed into The Kingdom of God on February 12, 2025. A lifelong resident of the area, he was born in Trenton to Frank Nicholas Bernert and Marion June Bernert. He was raised in the Yardville section of Hamilton and was a graduate of Hamilton High West, Class of 1971. He was a classic baby boomer with a working knowledge of just about everything. He could fix any leak, paint any room, tile any floor, and he had the tools and knowledge base to do it.
He was a young man when he met the love of his life, Carolyn (Lyn) (Tulak) Bernert. With almost fifty years of marriage, they raised their four children together. Paul Francis Havey, Caroline Michelle DeLellis, Nicholas Frank Bernert, and Emily Ann Battista were the center of Brian's life.
Brian loved spending time in the summer with his children at the Bordentown Yacht Club and the Jersey Shore. He also was a Lionel Train aficionado and made every Christmas a little more special with his train displays. In his spare time, you could catch him watching a ball game or any classic movie while enjoying a "real fire" equipped with color changing magic.
Brian especially enjoyed Halloween with his family, as well as all the neighborhood children. His house was called "The Halloween House of Englewood" and he loved decorating, dressing up, tricks and/or treats, and creating a once-a-year experience for all the children. Brian was a true family man and never missed a dance recital, baseball game, soccer game, wrestling match, or a Hamilton High West Marching Band performance. Games were better, holidays were brighter, and his children were happier because he was there.
Brian's children, along with his two sons in law, Albert DeLellis, and Zachary Battista, and two daughters in law, Melissa (Reilly) Bernert, and Karen Havey, went on to give him 12 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Natasha, Julia, Vivienne, Dominic, Anthony, Samantha, Cole, Scarlett, Madison, Nicholas, and Roman, who will miss him dearly. "Pop" as they called him was always ready to hangout by the pool or put a bike together. "Uncle" Brian will also be missed by his nephews, Sean and his wife, Cindy, and his nephews, Michael and Patrick; great-nephew, Ryan and his wife, Arielle, great-nieces, Meghan, Kaitlyn, and Kelly, and great-great niece, Violet.
