North Stonington - Brian Kenneth Boldt, 55, of North Stonington, passed away peacefully at his home Feb. 26, 2025, in the presence of family after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. Born in Providence, R.I., June 23, 1969, Brian was the son of the late Richard K. Boldt and of Stephanie F. (Pitcher) Boldt.
Raised in Seekonk, Mass., Brian graduated from Seekonk High School in 1987, and attended the University of Rhode Island from 1987 to 1991, where he met his future wife Sherri, and graduated with a B.S. in animal science.
Upon graduation, Brian immediately began his employment at Pfizer in Groton; he first worked as a general toxicologist and later as a clinical research associate. In 2006, he started work on a second career, earning his A.S. degree in nursing from Three Rivers Community College in 2009, and subsequently earning a B.S in nursing in 2019. Over the years, he worked as a nurse at various facilities in Connecticut and Rhode Island. His most recent position was in the geriatric psychiatric ward at the Yale New Haven Westerly Hospital in Westerly, R.I.
Brian will be sadly missed by Sherri Ellen (Crandall) Boldt, his wife of 31 years; daughter Anne "Annie" D. (Boldt) Benchimol and her husband Julian of North Franklin; son Sean B. Boldt of North Stonington; mother Stephanie of Taunton, Mass.; brother Richard F. Boldt of North Attleboro, Mass.; sister Alison (Boldt) Tymkiw of Phoenix, Ariz., and her husband Peter; sister-in-law Brenda (Morrison) Boldt of North Attleboro, Mass.; brother-in-law Scott Crandall of Attleboro, Mass.; mother-in-law Paula (Pellegri) Crandall of Attleboro, Mass.; nephews, Cooper Boldt and Nicholas Crandall; nieces, Alexa and Krista Tymkiw; aunt Linda (Pitcher) Cronin and her husband Mark; uncle Jeffrey Talbot; uncle Cristlieb Boldt and his wife Pamela; cousins: Alex Boldt, Tracey (Cronin) Johnson and her husband Dexter, Kelly (Cronin) Greaves and her husband John, Jessica (Talbot) Larabee and her husband Matthew, and Meredith (Talbot) Jarvis and her husband Luke; and many friends and colleagues. Besides his father Richard, Brian was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Richard H. and Marion (Knowles) Boldt; maternal grandparents, Francis and Louisa (Diman) Pitcher; father-in-law Allan Crandall; aunt Karen (Boldt) Talbot; and good friend David Cochran.
Brian's family wishes to express their gratitude for the excellent and compassionate care that he received in his final days, first at Yale New Haven Hospital and then through hospice, in order to honor his wish to come home. Brian's family is also thankful that the Connecticut Nurses Honor Guard paid a moving tribute to him during a home visit.
At Brian's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral, and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brian's name to Yale New Haven Health Community Healthcare and Hospice.
