Brian Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home on Dec. 2, 2025.
Brian A. Brown, age 73, Husband of Audrey Pierson of Mont Clare, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Born in Norristown, he was the son of the late Evelyn (Allison) and Albert Brown.

Brian graduated from Spring-Ford High School, Class of 1970. Throughout his life he wore many hats, and he somehow filled each one with heart. He spent many years as a PIAA softball umpire and served as Secretary of Chapter 27. He also coached and refereed wrestling, helping young athletes build confidence both on and off the mat.

Brian grew up in Scouting, becoming a Life Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow in his youth. Later as a leader in troops in both Pottstown and Upper Providence. His love of the outdoors never faded-hiking, backpacking, mountain adventures. He completed numerous sections of the Appalachian Trail.

For 20 years, Brian volunteered on the committee for the Philadelphia Folk Festival, one of his favorite yearly traditions. He was an avid Philly Fan, always cheering on his Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers. He also ran the family mechanic shop, Coleman & Schmidt Inc. in Norristown.

At home, Brian became known as an "unintentional farmer." Whether it was pigs, goats, chickens, dogs, cats, mules or horses, he cared for them, but his horse Carley held a special place in his heart.

Brian is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Pierson; his four children, Brian C. Brown (husband of Marylisa), Kelly Ortlip (wife of Ryan), Marissa Blair, and David Mickelberg (husband of Sara); his brother, Chuck Brown; his sister, Heather Rubendall; ten Grandchildren, Chase Brown (husband of MaryJo), Cody Brown (fiancé of Courtney), Dominic Ortlip, Donovan Ortlip, Claire Mickelberg, Josephine Blair, Charlotte Mickelberg, Joey Mickelberg, Matthew Brown, and Leah Mickelberg; and his Great Grand-Daughter Keeley Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert Brown and Evelyn Brown.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration Reception at Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 1078 Egypt Rd, Oaks, PA 19456, Sunday, December 7, 2025 at 3pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, https://woodstocksanctuary.org/. Arrangements are being handled by the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc. I remember Brian and I sharing a room at the Virginia Beach Music festival with the Spring Ford Golden Ram Marching Band... together on the wrestling mat with the Spring Ford Wrestling team... and 2 winter backpacking trips in NY. Good times and memories that will last forever. Rest in peace, Brian!
