Brian G. Cox

It is with great sadness that the family of Brian George Cox, 56, announce his passing on Saturday 10/16/2021. Born in Boston and raised on the ""North Side"" of Brockton, he loved living in the City of Champions. Brian remained a proud Boxer and could often be seen sporting his ""red and black"" Boxer apparel. A part of the Brockton High School graduating class of 1983. Brian recently received his Bachelor's Degree from UMass Boston in Criminal Justice.

Brian is a retired, disabled OIF/OEF Veteran who proudly served his country for 23 years in the Navy, National Guard and United States Army. During his two deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan Brian worked as a Combat Engineer and 88M. Upon completing his calls to service Brian became a proud member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, Chapter 2-2, where he was loved and known as ""Frosty"". Brian's family would like to recognize the entire CVMA membership as well as his brothers and sisters whom he served beside for the love and support they have shown ""Sgt. Cox"", ""Frosty"" throughout his brief but courageous battle with cancer. Each one of them held a place in Brian's heart.

Brian was the ultimate lover of life, his love for his family and friends was unmatched. Music was Brian's outlet. Rock concerts were where it was at for Brian. Brian was an active member of both The Enterprise Club and Bertocci Club of Brockton. Brian loved to play shuffleboard with his buddies at the Conte Club as well. Brian was very active, he enjoyed golfing, hot yoga, lifting weights and talking about sports and politics. It wouldn't seem right if we did not mention that Brian was an avid Yankees and Cowboys fan.

Brian had an unsurpassed memory for history, sports stats and politics. Brian loved a good debate on any of these topics and could often be heard (soft spoken he was not) boasting his opinions and thoughts. Mostly, Brian enjoyed a great debate with the fine men whom he was honored to call friends at ""Joe Angelo's"" Cafe in Brockton.

Brian was a proud ""Papa"" to his three beautiful grandchildren, Christian William, Landon Shayne and Grace Jacqueline. Brian cherished his Thursday afternoon guitar lessons where he and his ""best buddy"" Christian, would jam to the best of 80's rock music. Brian loved introducing Christian to his favorite Hair and Heavy Metal bands. Brian was extremely proud of Christian's young talent and desire to play his Papa's favorite songs, which became Christians favorite songs too.

Brian was a retired Local 25 Teamster, employeed by US Food Service. A former employee of Cirelli Foods in Brockton. On any given day Brian could be heard recalling the good old days and sharing the many memories and laughs Brian made with his coworkers and brothers. Holding these two positions in food service Brian became quite the ""Foodie"".

Brian will be remembered for his kindness and larger than life smile. The life and love Brian brought into this world will be missed by every person who was blessed with his presence. To know Brian was to truly love him.

Son of the late Donald James Cox and Dorothy Frances (Vaughn) Cox. Beloved husband of Lynnel M. Cox of East Bridgewater. Loving father of Ashley Collins of Randolph, Samantha Cox of Stoughton, and stepdaughters Sarah O'Brien and Barbara O'Brien and stepson Shayne Stilphen all of East Bridgewater. Brother of James Cox and his wife Andrea of Middleboro, Susan Frazier and her husband Lee of Malone, NY, Holly Cox and her husband William of Malone, NY, Ricky Cox of Canton, Wayne Cox and his significant other Sherie Duncan of VA, the late Lee Cox and the late Donna Cox. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and his dog Gina ""bean"".

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:45 PM.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Brian's life and share memories beginning at 4:00 at Joe Angelo's Cafe, 11 Crescent Street, Brockton, MA. Parking is available in the parking garage next to the cafe.
