John F. Croker, 62, of West Bridgewater, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, after a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of Linda Siegel-Croker, who remained devoted to him throughout his illness.
Born in Brockton, John was the son of the late Louis E. Croker Jr. and the late Joan F. (Merchant) Hayes. He was raised in the Montello section of the city, where he formed many lifelong friendships and proudly played for the Elks Little League baseball team under the guidance of Coach Wally Boen, an experience that had a lasting impact on his life.
John was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1980, and spent over 40 years working for National Grid in Brockton until illness forced his retirement. His dedication and strong work ethic were hallmarks of his long career.
A true fan of Boston sports, John never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite teams. He also had a deep appreciation for American history, classic films, golf, and travel, especially trips shared with his beloved wife. A passionate and skilled cook, John loved good food and always had the perfect kitchen gadget on hand. He enjoyed the occasional fine cigar, but what he cherished most was spending time with friends and family. Whether by the lake in Saratoga Springs, relaxing on a beach, or in the kitchen at his brother's house preparing the Thanksgiving turkeys alongside his beloved brother-in-law, the late Billy Cavanaugh, John's presence brought warmth and joy to every gathering.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Siegel-Croker; his siblings Patricia Spearin of Easton, Deborah Cavanaugh of Lakeville, James Croker and his fiancée Celestina Rodrigues of Brockton, Kevin Croker and his wife Maria of Brockton, Kathy Turcotte and her husband Joseph of Taunton. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Michael. He also leaves behind an extended family of loving friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
John's wife and family extend their heartfelt gratitude to his caregiver, Gladys Scott, whose compassionate care brought immense comfort, and to his dear friend Antone DaSilva, who provided companionship and unwavering support throughout John's illness.
Following Cremation, A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St, Brockton, MA on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 2:00PM to 5:00PM, followed by a celebration of John's life at Thorny Lea Golf Club, 159 Torrey St., Brockton. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the American Parkinson Disease Association.
