Brian Font Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home - Carson City on Oct. 1, 2025.
In the quiet town of Fenwick, Michigan, the world lost a beloved soul on July 26, 2025. Brian D. Font, aged 64, passed away surrounded by immeasurable love, leaving behind a legacy built not just on hard work, but on laughter, family, and the kind of friendships that turn into family.
Born on a summer day-July 2, 1961-in Ionia, Michigan, Brian came into the world with a strong spirit and a big heart. He was the cherished son of Dwight L. Font, and Joyce, who later found love again with Ron Simmons. Together, they shaped a young man who would grow up to make an unforgettable mark on everyone lucky enough to know him.
Brian's life was one of adventure, grit, and connection. Alongside his beloved wife Roxanne- of 45 years-he poured his passion into cars and community. The couple owned and ran Brian's Body Shop in Carson City for many years. It wasn't just a business; it was a gathering place. Customers became friends, and friends became family.
There was no such thing as "idle" in Brian's world. Whether he was out in the woods hunting, casting a line into the water, or firing up the grill, he lived with full intent. He was a man of movement-always chasing the next laugh, the next story, or the next perfectly grilled steak.
At the heart of every gathering was Brian, cold beer in hand, a joke at the ready, and something sizzling on the grill. He was the self-declared "Master of the Grill," but even more so, he was the master of bringing people together. His signature phrases-"I would highly appreciate it if you would have a sociable beer with me," and "You just got here!"-were his way of saying: Stay. We're just getting started.
Family was Brian's greatest joy. He leaves behind Roxanne, the love of his life. Together they raised two daughters, Rachelle (Rob Sharrard) and Sarah (Blake Zylstra), who each carry his spark. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren-Taylor Font (Matt Taylor), Keigan, Jenna (Devon Sadler), Aubreanna, Easton, Addison, Brodie, Samantha, and Sophia- Each one a carved detail in the masterpiece he built by hand.
Brian is also remembered fondly by his Brother- Jeff (Julie) Font, Sister- Patricia Ripley, his mother-in-law Jean Varney, Sister-in-law Becky (Mike) Rich, Brother's in law Doug (Iris) Helsel, Al (Melissa) Helsel and Mark Helsel (Eve Cusack) and many cherished nieces and nephews whom he had special bonds with.
He was preceded in death by his father Dwight, and his mother and stepfather, Joyce, Ron, as well as father-in-law Dave Varney, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms on the other side.
Brian didn't just live-he lived well. He worked hard, laughed often, and loved with everything he had. Though the grill may be quiet now and the beer on ice unopened, his stories will continue to be told in the man cave, around campfires, and at family gatherings for years to come. And if you listen closely, you just might hear him say, one more time, "You just got here."
