Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kyger Funeral Home - Elkton on Dec. 27, 2025.
Brian Douglas Forish, 65, of
Elkton, Virginia, went peacefully to Heaven on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025, surrounded by love, in his home.
Brian was born on July 11, 1960, in
Abingdon, Virginia, to his parents, Donald and Donna Forish, who survive him. He was raised in Manassas, Virginia, where he met the love of his life, Susie Forish, who is left to honor his memory. They shared 43 years of marriage and built an incredible life and legacy. Brian was quiet, steady, and reserved, while Susie is the loud and talkative half. Together, they were perfectly balanced. She cared for him with extraordinary love, and he cherished her completely.
As a child, Brian battled cancer and was not expected to live past the age of 15. Doctors believed he would never have children, but Brian defied every expectation, likely due to the prayers and devotion of his wonderful parents. He went on to live a full, meaningful life as a devoted husband, a proud father, and a loving grandfather. Every day was a gift, and he lived it with quiet strength and deep gratitude.
Family was always Brian's greatest priority. He was a devoted provider and an exceptional human being. In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his children, Jason Forish of Elkton, Ashley Oden and her husband, Lawrence, of Chesapeake, and Jon Forish and significant other, Tanna Carr, of Broadway. He was a proud Poppy to Damien Forish, Andrew West, Alivia Oden, and Conner Holland. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Gunnar and Kali, who brought him so much joy and companionship.
Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents, Horace and Anna Marie Rose and Joseph and Agnes Forish, as well as his loving aunt, Betty Darby.
A lifelong car enthusiast, Brian built a life doing what he loved. He started his career at Dudley Martin Chevrolet in Manassas. After moving to the Shenandoah Valley, he worked at Myers Ford, Dick Myers Chevrolet and Timberville Motors before he opened his own business, Forish Family Auto Sales in 1998. His success was built on trust and many of his customers considered him a friend. He retired in December of 2019, after more than 40 years of service to the industry.
Those who knew Brian knew his strength didn't come from volume, but from presence. He didn't speak often, but when he did, everyone listened because his words were thoughtful, meaningful, and often unexpectedly funny. His quiet humor, kind spirit, and steadfast love will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, with Rev. Dr. Jonathan Page officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family invites all who attend to come as they are, in keeping with Brian's simple and genuine nature. He was a good man, deeply loved, and will be forever missed.
