Grace Elizabeth (Libby) Baker Robinson of
Elkton, VA, previously of
Winchester, VA, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, in Stanardsville, VA.
Libby was born on July 11, 1943, in
Baltimore, MD, to the late George Carter Baker and Evelyn Cross Baker of Fredrick County, VA. They moved to
Winchester, VA, in 1945 where Libby attended Handley High School and graduated from James Woods High School in 1961.
She attended West Virginia College of beauty culture and opened her own shop "Coiffeur de Grace" in
Winchester, VA, for 10 years. She went on to work as a Regional Manager for Kemper Insurance Co. for 3 years. After this time, she became a realtor and was in this role well over 50 plus years. In 1983, she started Monroe Mortgage Company in
Winchester, VA, and had a branch in Martinsburg, WV, and
Harrisonburg, VA. Libby also served as the President and past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in
Winchester, VA. She also served as the President of the National Institute of Mortgage Brokers.
On April 9, 1983, she married Donald Robinson, at St Paul's Episcopal Church on the hill in
Winchester, VA, who preceded her in death. They were married for 36 years upon Don's passing. St Paul's is where Don and Libby attended church for many years. Prior to, Libby attended Galilee Christian Church where she spent most of her youth.
In 1995, her and Don moved to
Lebanon, TN, to be closer to her son and grandkids. Libby returned to Harrisonburg in 2010 to be closer to family and friends. She retired from Monroe Mortgage in July 2011, to spend more time with Don and her family, be able to travel to Montana, and to enjoy many of her favorite hobbies. Some of her hobbies were playing several musical instruments such as the Piano, the Organ, Banjo, Mandolin, keyboard, and the Dulcimer. She absolutely loved Arts and Crafts, Cooking and Baking for her family, and was an avid reader.
Libby is survived by her grandchildren, Carter Elizabeth, and Bailey Everett Thomas of Colorado; her four stepchildren, Mary (Gary) Dean of Elkton, Ricky Wayne (Vicky) Robinson of Elkton, Donald Allen Robinson of Elkton, and Michael Lee (Deborah) Robinson of Shenandoah; step grandchildren, Gary Meadows, Maryanne Meadows, Bobbie Jo Robinson, and Judy A Robinson; step great-grandchildren Doug and Eli Meadows, and Macie and Madelynn Morris.
She leaves behind her sister, Annette Baker Parrish and husband, Robert Balewicz of Proctorsville, VT; nephew, Zebulon Lindholm and wife, Randi of Rutland ,VT; great nephew Finn Carter Lindholm of Rutland, VT, as well as a set of twins Nora Leigh and Jace Carter, and niece, Jensen Lindholm and partner, Joe Ford of Rutland, VT. She also leaves behind these Angels that have cared for her through her sickness, Deborah Robinson, Maryanne Meadows, Debbie Kiser, Annette Parrish, Brandon Henry, and Mary Rue.
In addition to her parents and husband, Libby was preceded in death by her son, Charles "Chip" Thomas.
Libby never met a stranger, had a heart of gold, and was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
She was a prayer warrior and was an obedient servant to the Lord.
