Brian Heckman

1972 - 2025

Brian Heckman, 53, passed away Aug. 15, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at home after a lengthy battle of NASH (non-alcoholic steatohepatitis) cirrhosis.
He was born in DuBois, on Feb. 12, 1972, to the late Albert "Mike" Heckman and Rachel Ann (Geer) Heckman.
On Nov. 12, 2010, he married Jesse D. Leasure. She survives and resides in Punxsutawney.
Brian was a member of the church Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the Brookville Ward since he was a young boy. Brian strived to make it to the temple in Pittsburgh before he passed. A dream not forgotten and one which will be fulfilled.
He worked for Brookville Lumber Company and was a draftsman under several companies since he was 18.
In his free time, he was a magnificent painter of outdoors, beaches and mountain scenes.
His highlight of life was his family and his daughter getting baptized a few years ago. Brian enjoyed camping, visiting with members of his church and staying at home watching movies. Brian had a great friend, Monty Snair, who proceeded him in death.
In addition to his wife, Jesse, he is survived by two children, Broc and Cailyn; one brother, Michael Heckman and wife Glenna; brother-in-law Cory and wife Jenn; niece Tayah and nephews Tysen and Lincoln, all of Punxsutawney; and a niece, Ashley of New York. He is survived by special cousins Ed, Dawn, Lexi and Josh, and great friend Jamie Snair.
Friends and family will be received from 12 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, at Shumaker Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
