Madden, Brian F. of Pembroke, a devoted husband, father, “Papa,” brother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. His strength, resilience, and unmistakable sense of humor—often delivered with a perfectly timed dose of sarcasm—remained with him throughout his life and hard-fought battle.
Born and raised in Weymouth, he was the son of the late Edward Madden and the late Rosemary Madden Smith. Growing up in Weymouth he formed lifelong friendships that continued well into adulthood. He graduated from Weymouth North High School in 1974, then attended Boston State College, where he earned his degree in finance and accounting. He later continued his professional education at the National School of Banking, laying the groundwork for a long and respected career in the banking industry.
Brian enjoyed the simple routines that brought him peace: playing golf, spending time with loved ones, and caring for his yard with the same attention and pride he brought to every part of his life. His quick wit and dry humor were trademarks—qualities that made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him. Nothing brought him more joy than the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Professionally, he was a valued and dedicated employee of Coastal Heritage Bank, where he was respected for his integrity, reliability, and strong work ethic.
Devoted husband to Maureen (Barden) Madden of Pembroke. Loving father of Becky Zirngiebel and her husband George of Pembroke. Adored “Papa” to his three grandchildren, Olivia, Louie, and Lucy Zirngiebel of Pembroke. Cherished brother of Edward Madden (Cathy), Joan Horner (and the late Charlie Horner), Kevin Madden (Debby), Laura DiBona (Benny), the late David Madden, and the late Shaun Madden.
Predeceased by his Step-father Edward Smith, and his son Brian Madden.
He will be remembered for his loyalty, his steady presence, and the way he made people laugh—often when they least expected it. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friendships he maintained, and the countless moments he shaped simply by being himself.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday, February 18 from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Thursday, February 19 prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Brian may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
