Brian Steven Masters, 54, passed away at home on Friday, January 16, 2026.
He was born in Houston, Texas, but spent the majority of his life in western North Carolina. He
loved to travel and play the saxophone, a passion that began in high school marching band. He
spent many of his adult years as a truck driver, driving all over the country. One of his greatest
passions was historical reenactment. He spent years in the SCA as well as travelling to
conventions both near and far. He loved the art of debate and would talk your ear off given the
chance on almost any subject. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed gaming. He was a
loyal friend and family man. His children meant the world to him.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Rachel Masters, his son Steven Michael Masters
(Wilma), his parents Nelma Jean Bryson and Ken Masters, and siblings: Michelle Ross (Mike),
Karen Smelser (Jake), and Alyxander VanHelsing, numerous nieces and nephews, and his life
partner, CeCe Busse.
He is preceded in death by his infant daughter Angelica Masters.
There will be no formal funeral or memorial service. His wishes were for there to be no fanfare
on his passing. The family plans to privately celebrate his life at a later date.
