Brian Matthews, 44, of Troy, IL, passed away on July 3, 2025.
Brian was born November 19, 1980 to parents Vernon Matthews and Nancy (Decher) Brown. He spent the past ten years as a Senior Analyst for the Midwest Employee Casualty Company. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, running, and traveling abroad. He was known for being a great chef, avid music listener, and a foster parent for Partners for Pets.
He is preceded in death by his father, Vernon Matthews and his mother-in-law, Debra Jones.
Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Crystal (Jones) Matthews; step-son, Ethan Grace; mother, Nancy Brown; step-father, Jim Brown; sisters, Anna Wright and Chrissy (Patrick) McGuire-Murillo; sister-in-law, Sharon (Brian) Brace; nephews, Isaac Gilkison, and George McGuire-Murillo; nieces, Emma Gilkison, Trudie McGuire-Murillo, Emmaline Brace, and Aralyn Brace; as well as many more extended family members and cherished friends.
All who knew Brian will miss him dearly. Respects may be paid to the family on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Sunset Hill Funeral home from 12:30-2:00PM.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lymphoma Society, Partners for Pets or the St. Louis University Hospital.
