Brian dedicated most of his life to his career as a mechanic, a profession that mirrored his hands-on approach to life. He found joy in working with his hands and solving problems, making a lasting impact on those with whom he worked.
Throughout his life, Brian’s family was his foremost priority. He loved his wife, Jeanie Marie Ray McMahan, and embraced his role as a father to his sons: Austin Russell and his wife Elizabeth, Cody Russell and his wife Betty, and Brandon Worley. Brian was particularly proud of his role as a grandfather to his granddaughters, Emma Russell and Eva Russell, devoting much time and affection to them.
Born to Ida Mae Hughes McMahan and the late Clifford Earl McMahan, Brian's family roots ran deep in Asheville. He enjoyed a close relationship with his mother and her companion, Freddie Tallant, and shared a special bond with his sister, Dawn Brown, and her husband Wayne; and close nephew, Preston Brown. His family tree extended to many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom were dear to him.
Brian’s personality shone brightly through his passions. He was an avid sports fan, embracing the excitement of football, basketball, and wrestling. He proudly supported his favorite teams, including Duke University, the Raiders, and the Gators. In addition to his love for sports, Brian had a profound appreciation for animals, whether it was enjoying wildlife in nature or caring for his beloved pets, reflecting his compassionate nature.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Anders Rice & Roper Funeral Home in Asheville, North Carolina, with Rev.
