Brian Patrick Morris, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and lifelong musician, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024 at the age of 65. Born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Brian moved to New York State to pursue a degree in Instrument Repair from SUNY Morrisville. His greatest joy in life was his family, and he cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren.
From a young age, Brian displayed an enduring love for music. His passion began in elementary school and continued through high school, where he proudly served as drum major. His love for music never waned, and he remained deeply involved in the musical community throughout his life. He played with numerous orchestras and found fulfillment in running his own musical instrument repair shop, sharing his expertise and love for music with others. Brian was a true master of his craft and it would be difficult to find a musician or music teacher in the area who didn't know his name. He was very proud of his 40 years of experience and how known he was in the local musical community.
Brian will be remembered for his warm smile, his generous spirit, and his unwavering dedication to his family, University of Michigan football and music. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and beautiful melodies that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his children Caela Morris Whetsell (Brendan) and Brendan (Alicia Luchaco) as well as his college sweetheart Stacey, whom he was married to for 40 years, and his siblings Kathleen (Peter) Curtin, Stephen (Karen Levin), Jacklyn (Mike Shock), Kevin (Winnie), Colin (Bernadette), Michael, Sarah (Bill Collins), cousins, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as so many cherished friendships. He also leaves behind his most prized possessions, his four granddaughters Hanna, Rowan, Riley and Delilah. He was their beloved Poppy and one of their favorite people. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackson & Virginia Morris and an infant sister, Erin. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be planned at a later date. Please visit his memorial website at www.forevermissed.com/BrianPMorris to share your memories with us.
His children know how lucky they are to have had a dad like Brian. He never missed a football game of Brendan's, he was at every one of Caela's too- to watch her cheer. He would pack the car to take trips to Michigan, camping or karate tournaments at any opportunity. Because of him, they have a very full and happy life.
Brian touched many lives with his kind heart, loud contagious laugh and patience. He will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, please make a monetary contribution to your local public schools arts & music program in Brian's honor.
Dad, stay groovy. We love you.

I´m shocked and saddened by this news. I played for years with Brian in the row behind me in the French Horn section of the Binghamton Community Orchestra. I also brought my own instruments and my school instruments to Brian for repair. I always enjoyed the visits and banter. He was such a wonderful and knowledgeable guy. The music world has lost a bright light, for sure. May he shine down as the star that he was.
