Brian L. Oplinger

Brian L. Oplinger, 67, of Allentown, passed away on October 10, 2024 in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, 17th and Chew Sts. Born in Allentown, he was the son of Marie (Mazziotta) Oplinger of Whitehall and the late Richard L. Oplinger. Brian was the husband of Philomena B. (Giandomenico) Oplinger, married for 39 years on October 5th. Brian worked as a letter carrier for the USPS - Bethlehem, retiring in 2016 after 28 years. He was a 1974 graduate of William Allen High School, and a member of Christ Evangelical Congregational Church, Allentown. Brian was a longtime bowler, achieving a perfect 300 game. He also played & umpired for men's slow pitch softball. Known as an avid sports fan, Brian proudly cheered for the Yankees, Raiders, and Notre Dame.
Survivors: Mother, Wife, Son: Chad B. Oplinger and partner Sara of Pleasant Valley, NY, Daughter: Chelsea M. wife of Paul Mussillami of Emmaus, Brothers: Dale R. Oplinger and wife Fran of Walnutport and Gary W. Oplinger and wife Jane of Nazareth, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved grandson, Luca.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 11 A.M. in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton Sts. Allentown. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank the caring staff of LVHN Home Care and Hospice.
