Brian Page Obituary
On June 1, 2024 Brian G. Page passed away at home in Croydon, NH.
Born September 4, 1960 to Russell and Mary Page in Bristol, PA he spent much of his childhood in Bay Head and Freehold, New Jersey. At the age of 14 he ventured north to Vershire, Vermont where he attended school and worked gaining much of the knowledge that carried him through his life...building skills, animal husbandry, gardening and the ability to be self-sufficient. There he also continued his friendship with a previous acquaintance from New Jersey, Marty, who became his lifelong friend and whose love and adventures carried them through decades.
In 1992 he started Iron Horse Standing Seam Roofing in Tunbridge, Vermont. It began with a pickup truck and "weeny wagon", hand bending metal panels on the ground with his then partner John. He had a vision of changing standing seam roofing from a commercial application to a residential one. He approached Englert, a metal roofing manufacturer, with the idea and soon they were making that change in central Vermont and New Hampshire. As time moved on additional divisions of Iron Horse were started and he was asked to do consulting on projects and start up businesses in Turkey, Barbados, St. Lucia and the Cayman Islands. Eventually the business expanded to New Hampshire where he set up shop and a new division in 2004. He had intense pride in the product he produced and carried that through to the closing of the MadCow division in 2019. The other divisions of Iron Horse still operate in Vermont.
With the property in New Hampshire, 68 acres at one time, he sat on a rock at the end of a newly cleared field and envisioned music coming across that field. In typical Brian fashion that vision became a reality with two stages built, various promoters engaged and several concert events over the course of six years. Thousands of people were able to enjoy days of music and the beautiful space that he loved to share.
His love of travel, adventure, cultural diversity and history sent him to post war Vietnam, a summer of commercial fishing in Alaska, all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Bonaire, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Belize. He shared that love of travel with his family whenever he could.
Additionally, his passions, some would day obsessions, included Lionel train\s, restoring antique tractors, small engine rebuilding. There were the things that kept his mind happy. He loved his desserts and all of the dozens of dogs he rescued over the years.
All in all, what an amazing life he had, he knew it and was grateful for it. But we, who had the pleasure and privilege of spending time with him, watching that incredible mind work and never give up were blessed to have known him and share his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Mary Page and nephew LCpl Russell White.
He is survived by his wife Meredith and son Ethan of Croydon, NH, daughter Emma Rose and Tim Brechlin and grandsons Ozzy and Dio Brechlin of Clinton, CT, Ethan's children Jericho and Alice of Georges Mills, NH, brother David and Gloria of Londonderry, VT, sister Tricia and Gregg White of Vero Beach, FL, brother Russell of Allentown, NJ and sister Mary Margaret Cosgrave of Wytheville, VA as well as many loved nephews and nieces.
Our heartfelt thanks to nephew Adam, son Ethan, and friend Evelyn for their love, strength and support especially in his final days. Grateful thanks as well to Bayada Hospice and their amazing staff.
At Brian's request there will be no funeral services, but we hope to share a celebration of his life on September 21, 2024 with friends and family at Page Farm in Croydon, New Hampshire.
Any donations considered should to the animal organizations who gave us or took eventual care of our loved animals.
