Brian John Schoderbek



Brian John Schoderbek was born May 13, 1964, at the United States Air Force Academy, outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The first ten years of Brian's life were spent at the Air Force Academy, then Brian's family moved to Montgomery, Alabama. At 13 years of age, Brian's family moved to Albuquerque, where he lived for the rest of his life. He attended Madison Middle School and Manzano High School, from which he graduated in 1985. Brian met special educator Cindy Kise (and her fiancé David Keylon) while attending Madison Middle School. Cindy and Dave were kind and dedicated friends to Brian for the rest of his life, eventually becoming his legal guardians.

After high school graduation at age 21, Brian lived in a number of group homes and apartments run by ARCA. He worked at many jobs in Albuquerque thru Adelante Development Center. Brian participated in Special Olympics during childhood and as an adult. He thrived under the care of numerous staff in ARCA's group home system. Brian's family especially thanks ARCA employees, Eligio Velasquez and Rachel Wilson for their loving, conscientious care for Brian.

Brian was known for his charisma, sense of humor, enthusiasm, and loving nature. Brian had a smile for everybody, and his warmth and happiness were infectious.

Brian is survived by father, Stephen Schoderbek of Albuquerque; sister, Joanna (Maris Biela); and brother, David (Dianna) of Colorado and their children Donald and Florence. He was predeceased by mother, Leslie Schoderbek. Brian is also survived by life-long dear friends, the Hergert family of Colorado, and the Keylon family of Albuquerque.

Arrangements are being managed by FRENCH-Wyoming, and a memorial service is planned for summer.
