Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Funeral Homes - West Chapel on Jun. 13, 2024.
Brian Keith Spann, a beacon of joy and inspiration, left this world on June 12, 2024, but his legacy of passion and vibrancy will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Born on February 11, 1963, in South Bend, Brian's journey through life was marked by an unwavering zest for his interests and a deep love for his family and friends.
Brian's early years in South Bend were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family, including his loving parents, Robert L. Spann Sr. and Syble E. (Lewis) Spann. His life was further enriched by the companionship of his siblings, William Thompson, Ronald Harris, Diane Jones, Bruce A. Spann, Ronnie D. Spann, Therese M. Taylor, and Tinesha R. Spann.
Brian's daughter, Adrianna L. Spann of
East Chicago, Indiana, was the apple of his eye. His role as a father was one he cherished deeply, and the bond they shared was a testament to his capacity for love and his commitment to family.
His memory will be forever cherished by his daughter Adrianna, his father, Robert Spann Sr. of
South Bend, Indiana; his brothers, William (Kay) Thompson of
Colorado Springs, CO., Bruce Spann of
Milwaukee, WI, Ronnie Spann Sr and Ronald Harris of
South Bend, IN., Therese Taylor of
South Bend, IN., Tinesha Spann of
Chicago, IL., and Diane Jones of Montgomery, AL and best friend/brother, Leonado Paskell along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Brian will be reunited with his mother Syble E (Lewis) Spann, step-mother Ruby (Ware) Spann; brothers: Robert L. Jr and Mark D. Spann; his maternal grandparents, Hazel (Rush) and Theobra Lewis; his fraternal grandparents, Nadine (Chapman) and Frank Spann Sr.
Education was a cornerstone of Brian's life, and his pursuit of knowledge led him to earn an associate degree in music from the Columbia School of Music. This achievement was not only a personal triumph but also a steppingstone into a career that harmonized with his passions. Brian's work in both the sporting and music industries, including his time at Lucas Oil Stadium and Morris Civic Auditorium, allowed him to blend his love for competition and melody, creating a symphony of experiences that he treasured.
Throughout his 61 years, Brian's spirit illuminated the lives of those fortunate enough to know him as he had the unique ability to bring joy into every room he entered. He was loved by so many both young and old. His high energy and unique sense of humor and smile will be remembered by all. There was not a stranger Brian did not know.
Brian's interests were as diverse as they were profound. An avid sports fan, his favorite professional football team was the Dallas Cowboys (das rite!), and enjoyed playing basketball, which mirrored life's unpredictable nature and the importance of teamwork. His love for music was equally fervent, a universal language that spoke to his soul and allowed him to connect with others on a profound level, recording podcasts on Spotify under Radio Beezy. Beyond the earthly confines, Brian's fascination with astronomy led him to gaze at the stars, always seeking to understand the greater universe around him. Brian was also proud that the African Ancestry DNA test revealed we shared paternal genetic ancestry with Balanta people in Guinea-Bissau and maternal genetic ancestry with Mende people in Sierra Leone. Lastly, Brian would probably say God Bless all of you and keep makin' it do what it do!
